Visual Thesaurus for finding words

The Visual Thesaurus is an online thesaurus that lets you manipulate words and move them around. It is brilliant for finding alternative words for your writing or spelling and I think everyone should try using it.

You can even email these words to people- can each of you have a go at this please? Followw these steps:

  1. Go to: www.visualthesaurus.com

  2. Click the 'sign in here' link top right corner.

  3. Enter the user name and password (which has been emailed to the Team 14 News conference).

Characterisation- Wednesday

Today we spent time looking at the features of a character which we brainstormed using Inspiration. We changed this around and moved/combined ideas. The next step is to use this to evaluate and improve our descriptions of the three characters we had a go at writing about yesterday.

Character 3: Describe the mood

Use the following questions to quide your description of this character.

Write in complete sentences and try to 'build a picture up' of the character.
What sort of a mood is this person in?

What happened to cause them to be in this mood?

What are they considering now?

This time you need to describe the character using complete sentences.

Look at the body language and facial expression of this person and be as descriptive as you can.

What are they thinking? What are they like towards other people? Why?
