Today I learnt that growing up is about the worst thing that can happen to you. Apart from getting blown up in a bomb or getting runover. we made a mistake and had to miss milo cricket. And someone happens to think I am going to be expelled.
Our Mexico experiance is going really well and the disco is going ok.

Reflection- how I ask questions

Today I learned a bit about the importance of how I ask questions. If I ask someone 'what do you think?' that can ellicit quite a different response to 'what have you heard someone think or say?'.

Learners will employ two different filters before answering a question from a teacher:
1. Safety- how safe is it for me to contribute?
2. Success- how successful will I be when answering this question?

This is more evidence of the importance of teacher language.

Reflection- relationships and learning

This is something I've been thinking about for a while now... A couple of weeks ago I attended a workshop about leadership and the person running it spoke to us about the effect that relationships have on learning. The crucial aspect I took from this was that 'the better our relationships, the higher our quality of thinking'.

Because of this learning I have another lens into my belief that quality relationships help to get quality learning. I also think that not everyone knows this.

The next step in this learning is to share this with Team 14 and get their views on this.

Great poem, SLCs and babies

I came across this great poem today which is worth reading, it's called "Voice from a learning community":

I feel that I belong here. There is a place for me.
I make a difference here.
I have the power and the skills to change what needs to be changed.
I am known as an individual and I am acknowledged for what I am.
I know that people here care about me.
They know when I am absent, they sense when I am hurt.
I feel needed; I am part of a learning family, who need each other.
I feel safe here. And most of all, I feel fully myself.

Here is a shot of the latest scan we have of the baby. Both Angela and baby are doing well, although now we are getting closer to the 'next step'!

If you look closely you will notice the face eyes and nose, with a little hand over the face!

I hope you all have had a wonderful holiday.
